Immediately after our show in Telluride we drove 4 hours to Crested Butte and made it in at around 6:00 a.m. We caught a few hours of sleep and headed up the road to the Crested Butte Chili & Beer Festival.

It was a great festival and with tons of people. Drew Emmitt (Drew Emmitt Band & Leftover Salmon) sat in with us on electric Mandolin which was a real treat. A very humble and cool guy for sure!

Had about an hour after that show before we had to load into the Eldo so we checked into our house and got some more sleep. The Eldo was a great show that night! We went on at 12:00 a.m. so it was a late night party and that crowd brought it!

All in all it was a great little run through Arizona & Colorado. Currently we are in the middle of a 16 hour drive to get back home to Reno.

Through the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA) here in Reno we get to give clinics to elementary schools year round. 1st one this year.

Glenn reports on his progress towards cycling in the Vätternrundan 2010

Today we cycled 58 km with a average at 32.8 km/h which I am very happy with.
It was divided into 2 groups. One faster with the elite cyclists and one slower for us mortals, the slower group usually have an average around 30 km/h which suits me perfectly.

The first 30 km was really easy and started thinking about if I did not choose the wrong group. Then it came. The evil rain, the cold hard rain. It rained very much, the rain patter as tiny nails against my bare arms. It did really hurt. My shoes filled with water in a flash.

I got the feeling of drowning, it was a little difficult to breathe sometimes.
The glasses were spotted so I had trouble seeing. It was just to keep on rolling and follow the group. Then I noticed it, what makes me wonder if I’m insane… my smile, I smiled. I loved it. I felt strong and immortal, I would not trade places with anyone in the world.
It was so fun knowing, I cant get any more wet. I thought it was so wonderful to be in my pack and cycle in the soaking wet Sweden. Some of my colleagues did not share my feelings, that was clear.

As the most of the guys wanted to get home asap. It went very fast the last 15-20 km.

I look already forward to the next round, it’ll probably be tomorrow.

Tony is a hot air balloon pilot, taking flight from scenic sites in Colorado near the Rocky Mountains. He uses MotionX-GPS to create tracks for sharing with clients, and to maintain a logbook of his flights. Using the MotionX’s easy sharing features he can email track stats to clients with a link to view the track in Google Maps, as well as post directly to Facebook to share with friends. He uses the GPX file from the email to create graphic elevation profiles using uTrack and stunning 3D flight profiles in Google Earth.

The Race: 40 miles downwind on the Columbia River from Cascade Locks, Oregon to The Dalles, Oregon.
It is a 40 mile West to East course in an area of typically strong prevailing Westerlies.
This year the wind was 20-40 knots! More about the Double Damned Race

Morgan and his team used MotionX-GPS on his Moore 24 sailboat to track the race. It took the them 3 hours and 50 minutes to finish the race for an average speed of 10.44 knots. View their track in Google Maps

This sequence of pictures shows the boat throwing huge spray and then submerging, followed by a near wipe out. They saved the boat from capsizing but as you can see below, their competition was not so lucky.

Glenn’s ride yesterday was his most impressive ride yet, 62.8 km with an average speed of 33.4 km/h.

Chad DeVoe has made it to the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. Using MotionX-GPS to guide him over the last 4 months he successfully hiked the entire length of the trail from Georgia to Maine. Along the way he had a number of friends join him and with some support for slack packing on various treks he made very good time. The trail is approximately 2,175 miles. Chad hiked it in 122 days for an average of 17.83 miles per day. That is amazing!
